Michał Pepol – a cellist, an arranger, a member of The Royal String Quartet. He has been touring nationally and internationally (at e.g The Warsaw Philharmonic, The Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerhaus in Berlin and Vienna, Palais des-Beaux- Arts in Brussels), he has taken part in prestigious festivals, such as: BBC Proms, Schleswig Holstein, Rheingau, Perth International Arts Festival in Australia. The Quartet's recitals were broadcast by Polish Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and on Mezzo TV. Michał Pepol is a co-founder and organizer of Kwartesencja Festival, a festival which is a platform for a repertoire which is not only classical, but is also a place for experiments and finding one's way ( following pieces of P. Szymański, M. Stańczyk, W. Blecharz, A. Kwieciński, Z. Konieczny, but also the project with Kayah, were written especially for the festival). Signed with Hyperion, recorded albums of complete quartets of Szymanowski, Górecki, Penderecki, Lutosławski, Szymański and Mykietyn. The albums had enthusiastic reviews by international critics (e.g The Album of the Month in BBC Music Magazine or twice Editor's Choice in Gramophone). Since 2012, Michał has been connected with Nowy Teatr in Warsaw (projects: New Warsaw with Stanisława Celińska and Bartek Wąsik), since 2015 he has taken part in Krzysztof Warlikowski's play 'The Frenchmen' (the scene of a concert when Paweł Mykietyn's “A Page from an Album” is performed). Michał Pepol has collaborated with a large number of artists. He co-creates Duovoice with Bartek Wąsik and performed with him e.g during Pomada Festival and a series of W brzask concerts at Warsaw Królikarnia. He also participated in Karol Radziszewski and Adam Walicki's Slavox Project. Sound Regained, the first solo project of the cellist, premiered in November 2016. In June 2017 there was a premiere of his another original project – a concert / movie / performace The Silence of The Sirens, a duet with Magdalena Cielecka in The Muzeum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Moreover, in summer 2017, a movie Among Angels was shown, with music arranged and performed by Michał, shot in The White Wilderness with Agata Grzybowska and Robert Migas. Since 2003, Michal Pepol has been teaching a class of Chamber Music at the Karol Szymanowski State Music School in Warsaw.
