New album "Cellotapes" - premiere on 4 Oct 2024, Polish Radio

After the "Kora ∞" project, Michał Pepol comes out of the shadow - literally and figuratively. He no longer puts another artist at the center, but with his new album "Cellotapes" he directly tells the truth about himself, sums up his achievements to date and at the same time takes a clear step into the future. "Cellotapes" is a collection of pieces for cello and tape (electronics), but also a wordplay, because the title in English is simply "adhesive tapes". Michał's idea is for these "tapes" to be an idea that connects music of various genres into a coherent whole. The album's narrative is intriguing: from Bach's classics presented in a new framework, through the phonographic premiere of one of the most important cello works by Paweł Mykietyn and iconic works of European and American minimalism by Pärt and Reich, to Michał's new compositions, which outline the directions of the artist's development for the future.
